REP. CABRAL EARMARKS INCLUDED IN FINAL $3.8 BILLION ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BILL
November 14, 2022
Governor Baker has signed into law a $3.8 Billion economic development bill passed by the MA Legislature that will significantly help Massachusetts’ families and small businesses, and I am proud to share that several amendments that I filed were adopted and will provide critical funding for New Bedford:
$250,000 for Groundwork Southcoast to expand their urban farming project
$250,000 for traffic lights at the intersection of Hathaway Road and Rockdale Ave.
$250,000 for the Greater New Bedford Community Health Center to renovate and remodel their behavioral health space
$500,000 for the RMV to improve language access for non-English speakers to ensure equitable service
$30 million for infrastructure improvements at the Port of New Bedford (filed with the New Bedford Delegation)
I am also pleased that an amendment I filed for improved language accessibility — a component of a larger bill filed in the committee I co-chair — was also adopted. This funding will increase language accessibility and improve equitable service at the Registry of Motor Vehicles.
