If you’ve ever purchased or refinanced a home, the matter of title insurance is a pesky and pricy necessity – but why? Title insurance is completed unregulated in the state of Massachusetts, which is why I’ve continuously filed legislation to reform it. Homebuyers deserve more consumer choice and more affordable rates that reflect the actual cost of the insurance. Title insurance should be reviewed just as health and auto insurance is by the state. I commend WBUR for bringing renewed attention to this issue and I look forward to re-filing my legislation in January.
